Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion which was chosen by Joshua for answering the Ant-hony and Ant-Man trivia questions from last week. The Winter Soldier makes his long awaited return to Flashback Friday

Discussion: I know this seems like a reoccurring theme but I didn’t know much about the Winter Soldier until I started looking up information after the title of the film was released. The only thing I knew beforehand was Bucky Barnes is the Winter Soldier. I didn’t know much about the history of how he became this legendary assassin but I didn’t want to spoil myself too much because I wanted to be as surprised as possible going into the film. Captain America: The Winter Soldier really blew me away. I had good expectations going in but wow it was so much better than I was expecting. It’s definitely in my top 5 MCU films and just edges out Civil War for my favorite Cap film.

#43 – Winter Soldier (Unmasked)

I was already a big fan of Captain America and after seeing the Winter Soldier it turned me into a bigger fan. It’s then when I decided to start collecting all of the different Captain America pops and especially all of the ones from the film. I ended up getting every pop and exclusive for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. I was bummed that there wasn’t a Falcon pop at the time but I’m hoping Funko eventually goes back releases one for that set. This movie set into motion my biggest Funko collection which is Captain America, The Winter Soldier, and Falcon. Basically, any character that’s been Captain America in the comics or in a movie. I believe I own every iteration of Winter Soldier, Falcon, and Captain America except the two originals that are hundreds upon hundreds of dollars.

Winter Soldier

Having Winter Soldier in my collection is pretty awesome. I’m sure many of you would like to add him to your collection as well. Unfortunately, he has become vaulted which means the price will increase. He’s already around $50.00 and I’d expect him to continue to go up. You should check out our Facebook group for Winter Soldier and any other Funko wants you might have.

Trivia: Welcome to the trivia section. Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and you get to choose next week’s pop. You must chose an MCU pop that has yet to be featured in the Flashback Friday series. This week’s questions will come from Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

Q1: To prepare for the role of Winter Soldier, Sebastian Stan looked into what kind of historical research and what did he study?

Q2: What items are on Steve’s catch-up list in the U.S. version of the film? Please list the items but not the years.

I hope you enjoyed this week’s article. Please check back next week for a brand new Flashback Friday and as always Excelsior!

I've been an avid Pop MCU collector for the last few years. I've recently focused my collection on Captain America Funko products since he's my favorite Marvel superhero. I've also been collecting and playing the Pokémon Trading Card game for the last decade. I also run and judge events. I'm into Marvel, DC, Pokémon, Disney, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and WWE.
