Welcome to Flashback Friday where I discuss pops from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Anything pop related to the MCU is up for discussion including films and television series. Let’s jump right in with this week’s discussion which was chosen from David who was the trivia winner from last week. Captain America repeats this week with one of my personal favorite iterations of the character.

Discussion: What makes this pop so interesting is that on the top of the box above the window area it says “Captain America: The First Avenger”. This is really exciting because up until this release there was never a First Avenger set which made me super sad because as you know I’m a huge Captain America fan. This begs the question if more characters from that film will be recreated in pop form and be added to the set. I really hope that’s the case because there are so many great characters that deserve the pop treatment and it would be really cool to see brand new designs for Captain America, Steve Rogers, Peggy Carter, Bucky Barnes, and Red Skull.

Captain America

When the image first got released on social media every comment I saw and the one I posted was “I need this Cap”. Collectors were freaking out trying to come up with plans on how to get it when it was revealed that it was an Emerald City Comic Con exclusive which took place in Washington. The prices were going to be insane. I saw people pre-selling it on eBay for $200.00 plus. Then when word got out it was going to be a shared exclusive with Hot Topic a ton of people were super stoked because it just got a lot easier to add to your collection. I definitely called my local store and had them hold one for me until I got off of work. Needless to say, the only Cap from the First Avenger set is safely in my collection.

Because of Cap being a shared exclusive the prices to pick him up online are not at insanity levels. He’s easily attainable for $30.00 – $40.00. Check out our Facebook group for all of your Funko needs. Make sure to check out the trivia questions below for a chance to select next week’s featured pop.

Trivia: Welcome to the new trivia section. Be the first to comment with the correct answers to both questions and you get to choose next week’s pop. This week’s questions will come from Captain America: The First Avenger.

Q1: How much was Chris Evans paid for the role of Captain America in The First Avenger?

Q2: How many times did Chris Evans decline the role of Captain America and who eventually convinced him to take the role?

I hope you enjoyed this week’s article. Please check back next week for a brand new Flashback Friday and as always Excelsior!

I've been an avid Pop MCU collector for the last few years. I've recently focused my collection on Captain America Funko products since he's my favorite Marvel superhero. I've also been collecting and playing the Pokémon Trading Card game for the last decade. I also run and judge events. I'm into Marvel, DC, Pokémon, Disney, The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and WWE.
