192 Blade

Well, I don’t know about everyone else, but man I thought January came and went.  Judging by all the posts and emails, Funko had a very busy January.  Between the new items arriving in the mail for me and all the announcements coming out during and after the London Toy Show, there is so much to be excited about.  Behold the Top 5 January items to be discussed by this guy.

Number 5: Slash from Guns N’ Roses

I happened to see this awesome item at a Barnes and Noble and didn’t pull the trigger for some reason. Not sure why really as I love this pop.  Lucky for me Slash is available everywhere online (including BN.COM) and will soon be coming my way when I have a spare 10 bucks and my wife’s approval to spend said 10 bucks.  Funko named the poofy hair, top hat, shades, and best of all, trademark cigarette in the mouth, which Slash gains all his power from.  Being a 80s/90s/today metal head, this is sure to be in my collection sooner than later.

Number 4: Parks and Rec Pop Announcement

Funko read my Top 5 post a couple weeks back (probably) and has since released specs on the Parks and Rec line that everyone including me has been dying for. Although I feel like they nailed most of Series 1, something seems off to me about Leslie and Tom.  Maybe it’s the lack of waffle accessories for Leslie; or the little button with her campaign logo not big enough ether.   I am also hoping her Pop will also be able to stand in those heels, as the Suicide Squad Harley Quinn that has the same legs falls all the time over here at my co-worker’s desk.

In regards to Tom, I am not digging the hair, or light facial hair, or the pose. Maybe Tom and Leslie will look better in the box.

Number 3: ALIAS Pop Announcement

Another Pop request Funko read from my previous post (maybe). The Specs for the new ALIAS series were released and I am a little shocked with the choices they went with.  I mean they had 100 episodes worth of Sydney Bristows to choose from and they picked these?  I will be sure to buy the original red wig from episode 1 which is awesome, but the other three pops were a tad risqué.  There are going to be some moms all over the banning of these ladies in big box stores.  Also, no Man Candy Michael Vaughn or Jack Bristow makes zero sense to me since they were main, integral parts of the show.  I guess they will be in series 2 if the first one sells well.

Number 2: Blade

There is no describing the feelings of joy and happiness I have for this release. I loved the movies, I loved the TV Show, and I even sat through a couple episodes of the really bad cartoon.  The haircut, the teeth, the shades, and the sword complete what I consider a perfect Pop of Blade.  I saw recently that it’s going to be a PX Preview Pop (another “exclusive” to jack up the price of a pop) but that won’t faze me from trying to preorder this guy anyway.

Number 1: Casey Jones has arrived!

Quite possibly one of my favorite pops ever, Casey Jones has finally come home. Arriving on my door step a couple weeks ago, Casey Jones was well worth the wait.  As awesome as the specs were, they do no justice to the real life Pop in hand.  The hockey mask is everything!  It looks so awesome in the box that I can’t even convince myself to open it for a closer review.  It’s the first Pop I have put in a protective case, never to be removed from unless my kids need college tuition (even then, maybe not).

I have always had a love for toys. Ever since that dreaded day my mom sold all my toys at a yard sale, I have spent the last 20+ years getting all those cherished toys back. No yard sale, thrift store, or toy store is safe from my hobby (addiction) of toy collecting. I love all things Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters, and anything that has to do with 80’s movies, cartoons, and music.
