Sky’s the Limit: WWE Women’s Division

The WWE has experienced a transformation of sorts over the last year. Indie wrestlers are in high demand, the Brand Extension was brought back, and the new and improved Women’s Division have all been turning points for the product. Funko needs to address the changing attitude of Women’s Wrestling.

There are only five female WWE pop figures as of this writing. They are AJ Lee, Brie Bella, Nikki Bella, Paige, and Eva Marie. This is a good start minus Eva Marie but that’s for a whole other discussion. The big question is where are current Raw Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Becky Lynch, Smackdown Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, Emmalina, Mickie James, Carmella, Naomi, and Natalya?

Over the last two years the women have become a huge part of the weekly Raw, Smackdown, and NXT shows along with the monthly PPVs. Sasha Banks and Bayley won Match of the Year in NXT. Sasha and Charlotte competed in the first ever women’s Hell in a Cell match. Sasha and Bayley competed in the first ever women’s Iron Man match. Becky and Alexa were in the first women’s Cage match. The firsts go on and on.

Funko should start with the Four Horsewomen (Charlotte, Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, and Bayley). They should all receive their very own Pop figure. There could easily be various exclusives due to their outfit and hairstyle changes. You could have Sasha in her 2016 WrestleMania gear that was created for her hero Eddie Guerrero. Charlotte could have her bright blue outfit modeled after the Ice Queen Elsa from Frozen. Bayley could have her Iron Man inspired outfit from NXT. Becky should be decked out in her steampunk gear. There are so many options for these four women. Another reason to create these four is that they’re insanely popular right now.

I’d also like to see a Charlotte and Sasha Banks two pack because of their great rivalry in 2016. They could easily do a Sasha Banks and Bayley two pack based on their 2015 NXT feud which was phenomenal. I don’t think anyone would disagree that Alexa Bliss in her Harley Quinn inspired outfit would be a hot seller. I think an Asuka Pop would sell pretty well too. She’s super popular in NXT and has been champ for almost 300 days. With her Asian inspired outfits and masks I think it’s a no brainer.

Here’s what I’d like to see. There should be a wide release of general female WWE Superstars that are available in Hot Topic, Wal-Mart, Target, Barnes and Noble, and GameStop. Then there should be exclusives for each store and definitely WWE.com exclusives. Since Hot Topic is big on Harley Quinn exclusives I’d absolutely put the Alexa Bliss version in that store. It would also be really cool to see some of the pops show up at onsite merchandise stands at various arenas for Raw, Smackdown Live, NXT, and PPVs.

I sure hope Funko and WWE can move forward with this and let 2017 be the year of female performers. I’d for sure get all of the Sasha Banks variants.

Would you like to see more WWE female pops? Be a Legit Boss and let us know in the comments with a little Flair.

  1. Love this and agree 100%. Also think they should have a Mick Foley three pack of Mankind, Dude Love and Cactus Jack. AND, for the love of God, make a number 22. I don’t care who it is, but the number 22 missing between Andre the Giant and Roman Reigns makes me cringe every time I look at my collection.

  2. aaaaaaand you’re officially my favourite writer for Popvinyls.com! I completely agree with everything you said. WWE and their Pop Vinyl game is weak. A four horse woman set is the stuff of dreams, because sadly it would only happen in dreams. I can’t stand the fact that they have Eva in there. Solely because she was on Total Divas. Yet we don’t have any woman from the woman’s revolution besides Nikki (and does she really count?) I hope they eventually decide to release a three pack of The Shield. Seth and Roman already exist but sadly as of yet, no Ambrose. I doubt they will though or they already would have. Fingers crossed 2017 sees WWE realise the money they could make with more Pops. My current WWE Pop collection consists of Undertaker, Stone Cold, Ultimate Warrior, Daniel Bryan, Paige and Seth Rollins.

    1. Surprisingly I don’t own any WWE Pops but I would purchase some if they can appeal to the WWE “mark” inside me. I do need to pick up Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins.

I wouldn’t necessarily call it a Women’s Revolution but we have definitely inherited a better class of wrestlers. Combined with in-ring wrestling, character development, and promo skills you probably have one of the best groups in history in the WWE. You can build an incredible division with Charlotte, Sasha, Becky, and Bayley. And then you have great supporting talent such as Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, Naomi, Mickie James, Natalya, and Carmella.

Carmella and Alexa need to sharpen their in-ring skills. Nia needs to up her promo game. Where the heck is Emmalina?????? She needs to be on Raw ASAP! Focusing on the Main four isn’t going to cut it forever. I also wish Paige wasn’t a huge issue with her suspension, injury, and outside of WWE choices. She’s a star and should play a huge role in the Raw Women’s Division. Say what you will about the Smackdown Live Women’s Roster but they are handling their division much better than Raw by making use of all of their stars.

I would absolutely purchase a three-pack Shield box. That would sell so fast.

  3. They need to do a classics line. I would buy so many of them. I own the old wrestlers and the minis so far just waiting for more to come out. They badly need to do some tag team sets: the road warriors, hart foundation, british bulldogs, the steiners, the bushwhackers even come into modern teams like the new age outlaws, the outsiders. My brother would kill for an NWO wolfpack set.

    1. Yeah I’m with you! MORE WWE POPS PLEASE. Oh man could you imagine a DX set with HHH, Shawn Michaels, X-Pac, Road Dogg, Billy Gunn, and Chyna.

  4. I’ve said before I honestly don’t know why funko don’t produce more wwe pops a year. There’s a HUGE fasnbase for wrestling and the wwe. I think a regular line, legends line and maybe even a women’s line would all work and sell well.

    1. Yeah I would think the WWE pops would sell pretty well. Especially with the popular indie guys like AJ Styles, Sami Zayn, Samoa Joe, Bobby Roode, Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Finn Balor.

I do like your idea. Maybe they could set it up similar to Marvel where all Marvel pops belong in the Marvel group but then they have subsets such as Captain America: Civil War, Iron Man 3, and Guardians of the Galaxy.

I’d like to see a Raw line, Smackdown Live line, and NXT line. They could also expand to 205 Live and Total Divas/Bellas.

    1. I completely agree with you. Haha yeah if there’s a four pack with the Four Horsewomen I think Funko will be taking in a lot of money.
