christmas2

Now that Halloween is over with, we can all welcome in the best season of them all, Christmas! I LOVE Christmas!  Like LOOOVVVEEEEE it!  I, like all the big box stores, start thinking about this wonderful season in August.  Christmas Music is blaring at all hours of the day come October.  I love the gingerbread, the lights, the decorations, and more gingerbread.  This is when my body goes into hibernation mode and I start storing sweets and Thanksgiving/Christmas Dinners in my belly like they are going out of business.  Thanks to the month turning to November, it is not so crazy for me to start thinking of ideas for Santa.  Funko will for sure be on my wish list; that is if I am on the Nice List (jury is still out on this).  Behold, my top 5 items to grab this holiday season!

Number 5: Stripe Dorbz

Gremlins is the greatest Christmas movie ever.  Yep I said it.  Better than Home Alone and yes better than Die Hard.  The idea of a bunch of little monsters running around town, watching movies, singing, and partying at the local pub appeals to me.  Sure the whole second half of the movie they destroy said town and cause mass chaos/deaths could be considered a downer by some, but hey (spoiler alert) Gizmo saves the day, and he is awesome!  What better way to spend 6 bucks then on this cute, loveable, huggable Stripe Dorbz.  He may not be the good guy in this story, but he does come complete with his menacing smile!

Number 4: Brain Pop

I haven’t watched Pinky and the Brain since I was a kid for fear that it won’t be as good as my childhood remembers. So instead I will ponder fondly on the old times.  Brain was a genius who was held down by a partner in crime who was not a genius.  In light of this, you are required to buy this pop, display him on your shelf, and bow down to honor our future world leader (if he could just put a plan together).

Number 3: Archangel Pop

As a fan of X-Men, I was excited to see the next Marvel Collectors Corps will be themed as such. But, I am even more excited about the new X-Men line of Pops coming to shelves in the next month or two.  Specifically, I think Archangel is amazing!  I love the wings and of course the paint job.  Classic 90s look for this guy.  I have already started to strongly hint to Santa that this needs to be under the tree.archangel

Number 2: Casey Jones Pop

One of the most requested characters to be made into a Pop (mostly by me), Casey Jones is finally getting to see the light of day. I am a huge TMNT Nerd so I may have screamed like a girl when I saw the original announcement.  It is only going to specialty stores, and it may cost a bunch, but I personally feel this will be worth it.  It is the perfect 80s TMNT Look!  If you were lucky to pre-order this bad boy, then go you!  For the rest of you, be prepared to be outbid on eBay by Santa until she has succored one for this guy.

Number 1: Gilmore Girls Pop Set

Gilmore Girls is more than a TV show in my household. It has become a way of life.  The fast talking, coffee drinking ladies of Stars Hollow make their way into my DVD Player each fall, where my family hunkers down and watches all seven seasons, only taking breaks to eat or go to the bathroom.  All forty-two DVDs are watched and analyzed.  Come November 26, we will be on the couch again, this time for the Netflix Revival.  I reached out to the Mothership, and they told me shipments for this series would start going out the first week of December.  Hopefully they will arrive on my doorstep in time for Christmas, making me the best husband in the world, for at least one day

I have always had a love for toys. Ever since that dreaded day my mom sold all my toys at a yard sale, I have spent the last 20+ years getting all those cherished toys back. No yard sale, thrift store, or toy store is safe from my hobby (addiction) of toy collecting. I love all things Ninja Turtles, Ghostbusters, and anything that has to do with 80’s movies, cartoons, and music.
