After some Funko hunting on my day off this past week, I started to rearrange my collection. It’s slightly lengthy because not only are there 3 IKEA Detolf cases to go through, but making sure that each Pop stands up without any support.

For the first time ever, I started to experience some buyer’s remorse of some kind.

I’m sure this isn’t a new topic on here, message board, or Reddit. Everyone has that “rush” when they see new items either in-store or online and suddenly, the wallet is lighter. However, for me, buyer’s remorse really hasn’t been an issue until now.

Ask my family or friends and they’ll tell you that I’m very picky when it comes to buying anything, from collectibles to apparel. I half-jokingly say that I’m Seinfeld regarding this because I’ll find something bad in anything to justify a non-purchase.

In the Funko world, there’s just so many items from various genres and licenses available. Each person has different tastes. For example, I love to stick to Marvel, almost anything Batman, television, movies, and WWE. So despite the fact that I casually know Stars Wars and a lot of their Pops are awesome looking, I only have 2 in my collection.

I also have a rule that if I don’t know of or watch something that is in Funko form, I don’t purchase it. I’m a big Arrested Development fan so I have the entire collection of Pops. On the flip side, I’ve never gotten into Orphan Black or Harry Potter so there’s nothing in my collection from those lines.

So as I finished rearranging, I came up with the following Pops in my collection that are in the buyer’s remorse category:

1) Mr. Met – This isn’t because I don’t like baseball because it’s my favorite sport. It’s the fact that Mr. Met doesn’t stand up or have a hole underneath the shoe to where I can take one of the plastic stands from another Pop and use it for him. He got put back in the box and on the book shelf, where I almost daily debate whether to keep him, sell it, or give it to a friend.

2) OUAT Purple Regina – Television not only is a hobby, but part of my professional life as well. I would say that I’m a casual-ish fan of OUAT, but this was the very definition of an impulse buy for me. In my mind, it sticks out like a sore thumb standing next to others in the Television section.

3) Siberian Husky – I like dogs and prefer them over cats, but still not sure why I decided to purchase this. It currently sits next to the Target Bullseye Pop, which I absolutely love 100 times more than the Husky.

4) WWE Eva Marie – Being a big professional wrestling fan, I naturally had the urge to collect all the WWE Pops. Whenever I always look at the WWE section, Eva Marie just stands out in a negative way. It’s not the “she can’t wrestle or was suspended” thing, but rather the “she occupies a spot in my Detolf” thing.

And that’s the thing about buyer’s remorse for me. I’ve seen a number of collections posted online, some that take up entire rooms. I don’t have that space and barely have enough room for 3 Detolf displays and two bookcases to showcase my Grails and Dorbz. For me, these 4 Pops are taking up space that might be used for future purchases.

I’m sure I’ll rearrange some furniture around my living room area to possibly make room for more displays, but I now have to remind myself to not pull so many triggers when I enter a Thinkgeek, Hot Topic, or big box store.
