At this weeks New York Comic Con, Marvel Animation & Family Entertainment SVP Cort Lane revealed that they have collaborated with Funko to create three brand-new animated shorts that will be released later this year. The first animated short is called Spellbound, and features Spider-Man and Iron Man facing off against the trickster Loki and his mind-controlling scepter, which was shown to the crowd during the panel.

The two other shorts include Chimichangas featuring Deadpool facing-off against Venom and the third is called Rescue, where Rocket Raccoon breaks into the Collector’s museum to try to rescue his Guardians Of The Galaxy Member, Groot.

This follows other collectibles like Tsum Tsum and LEGO going into creating animated shows and we’ve seen Funko use short animations for their bi-monthly subscription boxes like Marvel Collector Corps.

It’s certainly a great idea for Funko to promote their Pop Vinyls lines.

What do you think of Funko making animated shorts?
