One year before Man of Steel brought DC Comics back into the eyes of the genral public, the CW’s Arrow started one of the greatest TV trends of the decade: superhero shows.  What started as one underfinanced but watchable TV show has grown over the past five years to blossom into . . . four underfinanced but watchable TV shows!  The most recent being Legends of Tomorrow, with a team of fan-favorites from Arrow and The Flash.  Arguably the most widely loved character on the show is Ray Palmer aka The Atom.  I found his brand new Pop at my local Forbidden Planet today and knew I had to have it.

The color scheme of the figure is excellent, with touches of bright red helping it to fit the show’s bright and comedic tone.  The metallic silver highlights also mimic the metal parts of the suit without being too shiny or distracting.

The only real problem I have with this figure is the visor.  It curves about a quarter of an inch higher above his eyes on the right side than on the left side, as you can see in the photo above.  While not as conspicuous as, say, a distorted limb, it definitely throws off the symmetry of the figure in an offputting way.  This type of error is extremely unusual from a company like Funko that puts so much attention into its products.  However, I’m not going to let it get in the way of my enjoying the figure.

The detailing is also superb, from the whirring dials on the inside of his knees to the layering of his different plates of armor.  Even the back of the figure is incredibly intricate, with metallic wires and a multilayered helmet.

My Final Opinion

While this figure does have one major problem, its fun colors, impressive details, and accuracy to the show are all spot-on.  I would give it a rating of 8.25 out of 10, and highly recommend that any fans of the Arrowverse track one down immediately.

I also purchased the new Pop of the CW’s favorite super-ninja White Canary, so a review of that will be coming in a week or two.
