As summer begins to wind down, everyone gets a bit disappointed at the thought of vacation ending.  However, one good thing does come with the arrival of September— the Labor Day sale at Midtown Comics in NYC!  Not wanting to ignore this amzing opportunity, I quickly went to find some great comics and collectibles for a generous discount.  And who can ask for anything more?

After much deliberation, I finally decided what the crown jewel of my shopping bag would be: the Deadpool Dressed to Kill Dorbz.  This item is a Previews Exclusive and comes in both Pop and Dorbz form, featuring the Merc With A Mouth bedecked in a classy suit and tie.

Right out of the box, this figure looks great.  The head piece is perfectly painted, with the lines between the black and white sections of the eye being very clear and no paint bleeding into the wrong area.  Deadpool’s signature mask shape is also represented, with the portion of extra fabric on the back of his head.  This detail was a pleasant surpirse, since Dorbz usually have a very minimalist shape.  However, the seam between the two halves of the head is a little conspicuous for my taste.  This could have been fixed by giving Deadpool some sort of top hat to match his suit and cover the seam.  You can also avoid seeing the seam just by angling the figure in certain ways, so it’s not a huge deal.

The body portion had some great features and only one notable problem.  The details of the suit were pretty extensive, with buttons, pockets, a pocket square, and even a button-hole on the lapel.  The red used for the tie and gloves, while not exactly the same shade as the mask, is still a nice bright shade, and is close enough to pass as being the same.   My only objection is that some of the glue used to attach one arm had been pushed out from under the arm and is visible.  This isn’t a huge deal since the glue dries transparent, but it makes a small smudge that looks a little weird.  Also, it probably hasn’t happened for every single one of these figures being made, just a small number of them.

Final opinion:  I give this figure a rating of 8.75/10.  It definitely has a couple of problems, but they are not very severe ones and overall it’s a fun idea and is very well-designed.  If you’re the type of person who needs every item of your collection to be perfect, this might not be your style.  But if you’re a Deadpool fanatic or just want something fun to go with the rest of your collectibles, you’ll definitely enjoy having this.

On Ebay, these run for $10-20, but since this is currently a very hot item, most stores will probably stock up on them and sell them for a normal Dorbz price of eight or nine dollars.  Happy hunting!
