Marvel, Funko and eBay for Charity are joining together to celebrate Captain America’s 75th Anniversary with a charity auction of customized figurines to support the USO’s 75th Anniversary. Through Operation: ReDorbz, over 300 artists from Marvel Entertainment, The Walt Disney Company, and Funko were invited to customize blank 18-inch Captain America “jumbo” Dorbz figures. Following a kick off as part of San Diego Comic Con, these unique pieces will be auctioned exclusively on eBay in support of the USO, a nonprofit, charitable corporation that supports US soldiers.

These highly collectable, one-of-a-kind artist creations reimagine Captain America as a piñata, the Cheshire cat, a Mexican ‘luchador’ wrestlerZootopia’s sloth Flash, a Russian matryoshka doll, and a scene from Disney’s Finding Dory. Comic lovers will appreciate imaginative tributes to Captain America creators Jack Kirby & Joe Simon and visions of Steve Rogers frozen in ice, as well as inventive mash-ups with Guardians of the Galaxy’s Groot and the classic Captain America arch nemesis Red Skull.

Details:

  • 75 of the custom figures will be on display at Funko’s San Diego offices during Comic Con, starting 10am Eastern, July 21st
  • Following a private, 1940s-themed gallery showing, each of the figures on display and approximately 200 additional submissions will be available for auction on eBay
  • Further information and access to the auctions can be found on eBay at http://www.ebay.com/funko
  • Each vinyl figure stands 18” tall – the largest Dorbz figures ever created by Funko – not yet available on the market
  • eBay for Charity is a non-profit platform, connecting live online non-profit auctions to eBay’s 162 million active buyers. To date, over $650 million has been raised for charities globally.

This is an amazing way for all of us to help a wonderful organization such as the USO. Kudos to Funko, Marvel and all the artists who are teaming together to raise money for the USO.
