Custom Corner: Kobe’s Slam Dunk

A week into the NBA’s 70th season, it seems fitting that a custom POP vinyl of one of the most prolific basketball players in NBA history would make an appearance.  This engaging custom, created by Chan Lay, features Kobe Bryant, a two-time Olympic gold medal winner and four-time All-Star MVP award winner.

Upon seeing a previous custom POP vinyl of Michael Jordan, Lay knew he wanted to create a basketball custom himself, so when a client came knocking for a Kobe Bryant figure he leaped at the chance.  “The main obstacle in making the figure was posing him in a dynamic stance around his big pop head,” Lay said on the construction process.  Continuing through new challenges, like mounting the figure in midair on a stand that could support the entire figure, Lay pulled together a figure frozen in time, reaching to score the winning basket.

With an expertly proportioned figure and an end result full of energy and movement, this vinyl brings with it all the excitement and anticipation contained within a real life basketball game.  Lay has created some incredible custom vinyls since he began customizing POPs, and this one is definitely another slam dunk.
