Custom Corner: The Headless Horseman

Galloping through the woods this week comes the legend from Sleepy Hollow.  This ghostly rider, created by Richard Bouden, comes complete with spooky stand and two swappable magnetized heads, his devilish steed by his side.  Able to view his victims incognito from his hay-stuffed perch or through flames atop his ghostly mount, this Horseman knows how to stay two steps ahead.

Custom Corner: The Headless HorsemanOriginally drawn to the exaggerated proportions of the POP vinyl figure, Bouden wanted to expand his repertoire to include more than just the Marvel Legends figures he’d already been customizing, and the fun and accessibility of these vinyls were exactly what he had been looking for.  Bouden noted “patience” among his many materials used to create this set, and while mentioned in jest it’s clear a lot of work went into creating a believable and stylized set that is not only beautiful to look at but fun to play with, as well.

Custom Corner: The Headless HorsemanUsing primarily airbrushing to create the coloring on these pieces, Bouden was able to achieve a level of glowing shading that can rarely be achieved using a brush, adding breath and dimension to and already elegantly sculpted piece.  From the flickering flames dancing around the Horseman’s head to his glowing eyes and dark attire to the rickety autumnal base, this POP set is definitely one to lose your head over.
