Last night, we brought you the news of many new lines coming to Funko. The one that peaked my interest the most was the tv show Lost. Lost was one of my favorite shows. Although it frustrated some along the way, I enjoyed almost every aspect of it. I still miss the complexity of the show and the characters. The characters were what drove this show. Each year they added more and more characters so trying to limit which characters would become Pops became difficult. Off the top of my head, the main characters from season one were:

Jack
Kate
Locke
Charlie
Sawyer
Hurley
Sun
Jin
Sayid
Claire
Boone
Shannon
Michael
Walt

That list doesn’t even take in the great characters such as Benjamin Linus, Desmond, Eko, Juliet and Rousseau among others. So how many characters do we expect? Well, I can safely guess there is no way we’re getting all 14 core cast members. My guess would be 8 is pushing it. 6 most likely. So how do we narrow down? I’m just going to guess what is in their mind.

Jack, Kate, Locke and Sawyer are your four guaranteed if I was in charge.  The next two to make the cut would be Hurley and Charlie. That gets us to 6 but it also doesn’t give us a very diverse group of characters.  I would have to have at least 8 characters and Sayid and Michael would round those out. It would bother me to leave Jin and Sun out but their character arcs grew stronger as the years went by so I’d keep them in a second release. As for the other characters, I could live without. Walt started out so strong but after his growth spurt, the writers didn’t seem to know what to do with him. Nobody really liked Shannon and Boone at first so I can deal without them as well. Pregnant Claire and a later Claire with the baby would be a nice piece but I’m not sure anyone is clamoring for them. While I would collect 20 Lost Pops, I’m not sure how many others would feel the same.  But figure out how to make a “Smoke Monster” Ride, and I’ll start camping out.
