How many of you guys out there are Trekkies? If you are like me, you grew up watching Captain Jean-Luc Picard and crew travel the stars in Star Trek: The Next Generation (TNG), which led to The Original SeriesDeep Space Nine (DS9), VoyagerEnterprise, and a whole bunch of movies. I guess you could call TNG my “gateway drug” to the Star Trek fandom.

One of the stand-out characters in the TNG era was Worf. Played by the talented Michael Dorn, some of my most favorite episodes revolved around Worf, a Klingon member of Starfleet. His character was so popular that Dorn reprised the role of Worf for four seasons in DS9, which ran concurrently to TNG on television. Needless to say, when Diamond Select sent me over the newest release in their Star Trek Select line, I was very excited. Here, in all of his Klingon warrior glory, is Worf.

As with most of the Select figures, Worf comes with several extras. In addition to a base, Worf comes with two extra sets of arms, an extra set of hands (one hand holding a pistol), a blaster, an extra head, and two Klingon weapons called bat’leths.

With these extra parts, one can pose Worf in a variety of stances.

I love the detail of this work and I feel that Diamond did a wonderful job capturing the likeless of a younger looking Worf (early TNG days). I will personally be posing him for the most part with the two bat’leths, because that has been one of my most favorite Star Trek universe weapons for a long time. I also appreciate the interchangeable pieces quite a bit, as they add a depth to the action figure since these have a limited articulation. I think of the Select line as more as an intro statue collection… limited articulation but possessing the quality of a statue.

Overall, this will be a wonderful addition to my shelf, and i am planning on placing him right next to my Spock bust bank, also by Diamond Select.

Want to add Worf, or any of the other Star Trek Select (Picard, Spock, or Kirk) to your collection? Our friends over at Entertainment Earth have them on their site. While you are there also check out the Star Trek ReAction figures from Funko, which bring me back to those days where Kenner action figures were the rage.
