popsfortotsbanner Last month, we announced that PopVinyls.com and custom artists were coming together to raise money for Toys for Tots. You can read that article HERE but basically we will be auctioning off donated custom Pops in our VK Auction House  to raise money for Toys for Tots. The 2nd round of Pops for Tots Auctions are beginning on Sunday night  December 7th. Let’s take a look at the excellent mash up of The Crow and Christmas which was created by Mika Verse.

After Santa Crow arrived, I asked Mika a few questions about her design.

What got you into making custom Pops?

I love toys. Always have. I’m also an artist and have been all my life. When the art world and toy world began to collide I just fell in love with the ability to make more tactile, piece of art… Paintings and photographs hang on a wall but toys? You can hold them in your hands, turn them around to see all angles. It’s just great.

How long have you been making customs?

I haven’t been making customs for that long…about 5 months. Kinda just fell into it by mistake and haven’t stopped since.

What is the favorite custom you have made?

It’s a tie between my Phantom of the Opera and the Santa Crow for this charity.

What was the inspiration for the piece you created for our Pops for Tots auctions?

I like the juxtaposition of dark and light. Pops are, by nature, cute but the Crow is a dark character. So I thought it’d be fun to lighten him up by making him Santa, but keeping it tongue in cheek by giving him a list of only naughty people. It’s funny and dark.

How can people see other customs of yours and commission their own?

There are two ways… my instagram @mikaverse or my facebook page www.facebook.com/mikaverse

Thanks so much to Mika Verse for graciously sharing her talents and allowing us to auction this piece off for charity!
