After much anticipation from Living Dead Dolls fans, the Raging Tears of Death Resurrection Dolls have finally started to arrive! When the Resurrection Dolls first went up for sale, fans had the opportunity to purchase a ‘bundle’, which included limited edition art prints, the dolls themselves, a hoodie, a tote bag and a collectible coin. I, myself, received the bundle so I will review both the dolls in the set and the bundle items. It was also announced that anyone who ordered Resurrections dolls (either set) would also receive an Art Book on top of the $30 free gift (which is a $30 voucher to the Mezcotoyz.com website – I’d save it since it looks like Series 28 Glow in the Dark Variants are coming soon, considering the test shots were given away at Ripley’s in October!). The vouchers cannot be stacked, even though the people who ordered both Resurrection and Resurrection Variants will wind up with two vouchers.

Onto the goodies! I will not review the book, as I am going to do so in it’s own separate entry at a later date.

I’m a huge fan of Series 16 and Series 18 Halloween sets of Living Dead Dolls, so when it was announced/discovered that Calavera and Pumpkin would be part of Resurrection Series 8, I know that I personally, was expecting a lot! I wasn’t expecting to love Alison, as she is not a personal favorite, however, I am in love, with both versions! As a sealed collector, I can only give you my thoughts on them as such, even though this may wind up getting opened, I am just too in love with the details to leave them sealed…and that’s saying something!

Calavera – She pays homage to the original Calavera, with a very similar outfit (although different colors). Her face paint, while similar, is different. She no longer sports eyebrows, and she has traded in her eye make up from rounded to edgy. Of course, her painted-on-eyes as an original, have been replaced with signature Resurrection glass eyes. They are piercing, she seems to look right though you. Although I am a sealed collector, I do know that she comes with a little half mask that makes her look even more intimidating for those that open!

Pumpkin – Pumpkin makes it hard to leave these dolls sealed, I know and have seen pictures of what his face makeup looks like under the mask that he comes bearing, and I personally, would love to take his mask off. His makeup under the mask is similar to original, like Calavera, with glass eyes. Even with the mask on, his eyes get you! He sports a vest now and a hood rather than a bloody jumpsuit. He does come with his token machete!

Alison – The original Alison is a pretty doll, I think she is just a little too plain-Jane for my tastes in Living Dead Dolls. However, the Resurrection Alison has tears, while the original just looks sad, the Resurrection has mascara streaked tears on her face. The blue glass eyes are bone chilling, as you walk past her, she really makes a statement. She looks similar to the original but different enough to make me fall in love with this one, even if I didn’t fall in love with the original!

Chaos Capsule – When this set was first posted, many people seemed to be under the impression that the capsule was small, and flimsy, like a Pez-dispenser. I cannot express to you just how heavy it is. I haven’t opened mine but I can tell you from weight alone, there is no way that it should have/could have been an accessory for one of the other dolls in the set. The capsule weighs more than at least 2, if not all 3 of the dolls in the set. There are many intricate details on the capsule itself, it ties the overall story of “Raging Tears of Death” together very well!

Hoodie – I know that I personally was expecting more of a heavy hoodie, or just a ‘normal’ hoodie. What they hoodies in the bundle actually are, are thin, t-shirt like hoodies. Not that it’s a terrible thing, it just wasn’t what I was expecting. It’s also a tad on the small size for a man’s XL if you ask me.

Coin – The coin is also a lot heavier than I expected, I think it’s very detailed and I’m happy to have gotten mine without having to worry about hunting one done later. They really made sure to put the extra effort into all the items, including the coin. I just wish that it was circular so it would be easier to find a coin-case for it!

Tote bag – This is the only item I’m pretty disappointed with, so much so, that I actually forgot to take a picture of it. I was expecting a tote bag that I could take to work with my laptop in it or class with some books in it. It’s a flimsy material that I couldn’t trust with my work-laptop in it. Being the cheapest item in the bundle, I’m not overly concerned and I’m not angry about it but it’s nothing more than a re-useable grocery bag with the LDD logo on it.

Art Prints – as a Ripley’s attendee, I knew what to expect after receiving art prints in my goodie bag. They are beautiful, just as the others for the variant set are. They came with a certificate of authenticity as well, overall, they are amazing quality.

Pictures ahead, make sure to stay tuned for my review of the Variant Set coming sometime this week!
