Welcome back to Custom Spotlight! Today we have for you a custom Clone Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi made by Jeff Jongko. We asked Jeff a few questions about his custom.

Why did you decide to make a custom of Clone Wars Obi-Wan?

The imagery of the Clone Wars cartoon showing Obi-wan in Clone Trooper armour has always been a strong image; a melding of the classic white trooper look with the Jedi robe aesthetic.  I had seen the large scale toys of this version and given that most Star Wars Pops did not cover this particular era, I wanted to bring those images to life as pops.  I hope I get to do some of the other Clone Wars characters like Anakin, Ahsoka Tano.  I certainly would love to make the villains such Darth Maul with cybernetic legs, Asajj Ventress and maybe even General Grievous.  It would be nice to have a villain to pose against Obi-wan and the other heroes.  A Pop-scale battle scene.

How did you come up with this idea for Obi-Wan?

I saw the large scale figure of this concept and I knew all I needed was a stormtrooper or clone trooper to make a Pop version happen.  Also I had a Thor pop that had some damage on it, and I noticed he looked a lot like Obi-wan so the moment I got a Stormtrooper I got to work on it.

I also wanted to test out a number of features I would like to use in my customs such as detachable magnetic heads and GITD paint.  An Obi-wan custom was a timely custom to make.
How long did it take to complete Obi-Wan?
It took me about a week to put everything together: maybe 4 evenings to cut the pop up and re-assemble, and about 3 evenings to paint it up.  The main problem was the GITD paint I was using was messing up the blue paint on the light saber so I had to repaint it a couple of times to get it right.
