If you are in the Atlanta area around Labor Day weekend, you must make it your goal to go to Dragon Con, officially my favorite Con east of San Diego. What’s special about Dragon Con?

Dragon Con  is a North America multigenre convention, founded in 1987, which takes place once each year in Atlanta, Georgia. As of 2012, the convention draws attendance of 52,000, features hundreds of guests, encompasses five hotels in downtown Atlanta near Centennial Olympic Park, and runs thousands of hours of programming for fans of science fiction, fantasy, comic books, and other elements of fan culture.

It’s not some run of the mill con but it has great panels and guests. You can do the traditional autographs from celebs but more importantly, you can go to some awesome panels. Last year, I jumped into almost every Doctor Who panel, Arrow, The Hobbit, and at some point just basically started stalking John Barrowman anywhere. He’s amazing! My wife and I also met Two Doctors from Doctor Who, half the cast of Walking Dead, and a pretty awesome time with Ed Asner. A great weekend by any definition!

This year seems to have topped all others with the announcement of Patrick Stewart attending the show. Not only that, The director of Guardians of the Galaxy James Gunn, Walter Koenig, Cary Elwes, stars from Battlestar Galactica and many more will be in attendance for panels, autographs and more. To see the full list, click HERE Besides the great guests and panels, you can also see amazing Cosplay-ers!

So what will PopVinyls.com be doing during this event? We have press credentials and will be covering the event for our readers. We will be at select panels, autograph sessions and just basically soaking up the atmosphere. We will have prize packs to give away as well. More information on how to get a free prize if you are at Dragon Con!
