As I have mentioned before, my 5 year old daughter Audrey is Autistic. She’s a super smart, caring, and funny girl. There aren’t many articles I write for this website that aren’t typed while she’s sitting in my lap hugging on my arm asking me what I am writing. Her heart is a part of everything I do. Last year my other website VinylmationKingdom.com raised over $3500 for our annual Tower of Terror 10 Miler Autism Speaks Fundraiser. This year I decide to branch out to our PopVinyls.com community and I am just amazed at the generosity of members of our Funko Trading Facebook group.
I wrote an email last week to Allison at Funko just praising the generosity of the Funko community in helping me raise money for Autism Speaks. I specifically mentioned the generous donations from ToyMatrix.com and Fugitive Toys. I also talked about the great Funko collectors who donated money and Pops of their own. That’s all I did. All I wanted was just to let her know about how awesome the Funko community is. In just a few weeks, my wife and I had raised almost $1500.
Allison replied saying how great that it was to hear about the great Funko collectors and then asked was I still auctioning items off. I told her that I’d auction things over time whatever I could. She then said “hold on.”
She wrote me back within the hour saying she had found 2 of these Where The Wild Things Are Max protos. There were only 5 made and she was donating these two to me to auction off four our Autism Speaks fundraiser.
I literally teared up (Ok, got something in my eyes in Guy terminology) at how awesome it was that a major company like Funko cared enough to donate for me when I’m not a big time buyer/seller. I’m just a guy who runs a website that loves Funko.
Today I will begin auctioning off one of the Max protos. they will be auctioned off in our VK Auction House Facebook group so that everyone can watch the auction. Whoever wins the auction will donate the amount directly to our Autism Speaks fundraiser page. This donation is 100% tax deductible as well! To join the VK Auction House, click the image link below.
